Course Information
Description	The lab provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology. Systems to be studied include endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics).
Prerequisites	The lab provides an online learning experience for exploration of human system components and basic physiology. Systems to be studied include endocrine, cardiovascular, immune, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive (including nutrition), urinary (including fluid and electrolyte balance), and reproductive (including human development and genetics). Corequisite(s): BIOL 2302. Prerequisite(s): BIOL 2301 and BIOL 2101
Learning Outcomes	1. Demonstrate an understanding of the general function of the endocrine system including, mechanisms of hormone action, regulation of hormone release, hormone actions, and endocrine glands, and endocrine disorders and treatments. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of blood composition, blood functions, blood disorders, heart anatomy and function. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3) Measured by embedded questions, and/or assignments. 3. Demonstrates an understanding of the location of the major arteries and veins of the vascular system as well as the function of the circulatory system. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy and functions of the structures of the GI system, the structure and GI functions of the liver, gall bladder, and pancreas, and the various metabolic and nutritional processes involved in digestion. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments. 5. Demonstrate an understanding of the anatomy and functions of the structures of the respiratory, lymphatic, & renal systems. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments. 6. Demonstrate an understanding of the location and function(s) of the structures of the male and female reproductive structures. (PSLOs 1, 2, 3, alpha) Measured by embedded questions, pre-post test questions, and/or assignments. 7. Demonstrate an understanding of reading material including relevant terminology. (PSLO alpha) Measured by pre-post test questions. 8. Demonstrate an ability to work effectively with fellow students to complete group assignments and/or cover assigned material. (PSLO 4) Measured by group assignments in the lab portion of the course.

Textbooks	Textbook Purchasing Statement: A student attending Lamar State College Port Arthur is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from the college-affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer. The REQUIRED workbook for the Bio 2102 lab (A&P2) is Workbook to Accompany Anatomy & Physiology Revealed, Version 3.2, 3rd edition, by Robert B. Broyles, Jr., McGraw Hill Higher Ed., ISBN 978-1-260-17014-6. This is a new edition of the workbook. The page numbers given in the lab assignments are for the Version 3.2. The previous edition, (version 3.0) will not work due to the differences in page numbers. An access code for the Anatomy & Physiology Revealed website is also REQUIRED. The access code can also be purchased online directly from McGraw Hill on the A&P Revealed website. The instructions for the online purchase are posted in the Course Information folder on the course website. You will also be utilizing the Mastering A&P access code that you use for the lecture to complete online assignments.

Determination of Final Grade	Each lab exam will count 20% toward your final lab average. The average of all of the online Lab assignments (on the Mastering A&P site) will count for 20% of your final lab average Exams that are not taken as scheduled will receive a grade of zero. No grades are dropped when calculating averages. No makeup exams are given and there are NO re-takes on any exam. Please make sure to read the Orientation document regarding the requirements for taking online exams. . Lecture and Lab grades are NOT combined. Each course will be graded independently.

Attendance Policy	This is an online class. It is YOUR responsibility to have a RELIABLE computer AND Internet access for the duration of this course. Please note that while many of the course materials can be accessed using a cell phone and/or tablet device, there are many questions on the homework assignments that can only be accessed on a computer (desktop or laptop). In addition; EXAMS CAN ONLY BE TAKEN ON A LAPTOP OR DESKTOP COMPUTER. If your computer breaks for any reason during the semester, IT DOES NOT EXCUSE YOU FROM THE REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES OF THE COURSE. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure all assignments and exams are completed by their due date. Any assignments and/or exams not completed by the end of the availability date will receive a grade of "0" zero. In this online class it is your responsibility to schedule your time so that you have adequate time to complete all assignments and master all material prior to the scheduled exams. There are no scheduled class "meeting times". If you have questions, you can come by during my office hours, or you can email me at anytime. You will need to schedule time to complete exams during their period of availability. You will be able to take an exam after the scheduled availability period, but there will be a time penalty imposed. Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
